And I'm back on DeviantArt... I couldn't even remember my password It's funny how I feel like some cast-away returning to a once familiar world, or some wanderer that suddenly found himself limping back home lol~

So, after my last entry, what happened? I struggled through the last year of engineering, got my degree, found love, traveled a bit, and got a well-paying-actually-relevant-to-school job in biotech. However, during all that change, I entered a semi-artist block, where though I still did designs, illustrations etc. for other people, I didn't really do any for myself. I think what happened was that I was anxious to push my style in a more serious direction (due to critique from well-meaning ppl), but instead I pushed myself into paralysis. Also finding balance between full-time work and taking care of myself (and others!) made it so hard to have enough time for everything.

And suddenly after two years, I started drawing for Myself again... that was just a few weeks ago. I can't remember what triggered this, but I came to a realization that I don't have to impress everyone, that I draw because I enjoy it, I don't have to spend all my effort on some epic picture, and just draw whatever comes to mind.

So what I do love drawing, since the beginning, is and always might be - Moe

And since then, for these few weeks, I've been drawing drawing drawing... it's really amazing. I decided to submit to AN's art contest again after a two year absence and won a spot in their gallery. I spent every hour after work that week to draw three pics to sell there... with everything going entirely to charity. This hopefully can be the start of my giving back to the world.

I came back from AN last weekend, and the standards in the Artist Alley have really really gone up. So much amazing art there! It's intimidating in a way, but I'm also inspired to try my best too. Also I got some ideas on the fundamentals I need to work hard on (so many!). And hopefully along the way, I will find my own style someday
